  1. Download a copy of this page, the log sheet and the rubric and put them in your notebook for this month. Check off the activities as yu complete them.
  2. Cite your sources for all researched activities in MLA format.
  3. Cassette #2-Come to class before or after school or at lunch. Make an appointment first and don’t wait to the last minute!
  4. Écoutez #1- Listen to the three vocabulary sections. Then do the 3 exercises sections and record your total score on your log sheet.

Then write a summary in English about the content of this podcast. Give details to show your comprehension. Record the activity on your log sheet and place the list and paragraph in your notebook.

  6. Le vocabulaire-List 10 new family words in French that we have not yet learned. Then list 5 family events in French that interest you. Put the list in your notebook. (15 points)
  7. Lisez (read) cette histoire de ma famille. (Scroll down and look at the story with my picture. Non, non, non , I am not the seal!!) Comment if you like, but sign it with your French name and 5-Marie5. Use other or anonymous). For the assignment, read and on a sheet of paper write 15 details in English about what you understand. You may use an online dictionary, but not a translator. (15 points) Then write a paragraph of 75-100 words in French about your family. Record on log sheet and put the paper in your notebook.( writing grade )
  8. Mon chien-Watch this slide show of my dog. Then write a newspaper article in French about this famous dog, describing him, telling about his personal life, his likes and dislikes, etc. Of course you may have to infer some information by close observation. The newspaper only has enough space for an article between 75-100 words. Record the activity on your log and put the article in your notebook.(writing assessment grade)
  9. La Famille Diagne Watch this video and then create the family tree from the information you see here. Put the family tree in your notebook. (possible 15 points)
  10. L'horaire à l'école-Listen and write down 20 things you understand. Write in English.
  11. Le Lycee Descartes: Look at this entire site. Make a detailed list in English of 20 things you learned about this school. Then look at the school menu and write down 8 different food items. Go to the left and click on each red button and list 5 detailed things in English you learn from each page. The school was named after Descartes. Find out 10 details about him by doing some research in French.(cite your resources) Then list his famous quote in both French and English on the same paper. Number everything on this paper. Record these activities on your log and put the paper in your cahier (70 points)
  12. Listen to the school day podcast. Then write the answers to the questions in English. Put in your cahier.
  13. Le calendrier des vacances dans les zones: cite 3 differences among the dates in the 3 zones.
  14. Le Lycée Jean Hyppolite à Jonzac Explore this entire site. This school is also a boarding school, meaning some students live in the dorm attached to the school. Answer these questions and put the paper in your notebook and log this task. a. Who are the principal and assistant principal? b. What is the téléphone number? c. Give 5 details about Jean Hyppolite's life. d.List the 6 types of diplomas available here. e.Where is this school? f.Find a map of France and download it and circle the city where this city is located. g. Click on the lycée and list 3 details about the school.
  15. Le BAC: Research this site. Give 3 details in English about each of the BACs: S, L, ES. Then go to the bottom of the page to the Trois mentions section. What is this about? Record your activity on your log.
  16. Research a school in French in a French-speaking country. Cite the source, print out the first page and write a paragraph in English of 125-150 words about what you understood about this school.
  17. Le Corps-Look at the right side and find the videos. Click on "Le Visage" and listen to the parts of the body. Record this activity on your log sheet.
  18. Marseille: Read about one of France's largest cities. Make of list of 20 things you learn about this city. Write in English.
  19. Include 2 activities that you have done so far in class. Indicate why you have chosen these two activities. In a half page in English reflect what you have learned from this activities and how they have impacted your proficiency level in French. Include your strengths and weaknesses and how plans to improve and reach higher levels of proficiency. You must also refer to your learner profile/approaches to learning sheet when writing this reflection. (lime green paper). Include this reflection in your notebook.
  20. Write a half page in English on what you have learned this month from these portfolio activities and how you challenged yourself when doing extra research for those activities indicated. Include your strengths and weaknesses and how plans to improve and reach higher levels of proficiency. You must also refer to your learner profile/approaches to learning sheet when writing this reflection. (lime green paper). Include this reflection in your notebook.
